Welcome To Vikings Journal
Image courtesy of Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY SportsStart by commenting on a story. Like Twins Daily, Vikings Journal will have the most respectful, civil and intelligent discussions you’ll find in sports, or maybe on any topic. We maintain that civility by making you register to leave a comment and aggressively enforcing our site rules. (To encourage you to take the plunge, we’re going to give away ten free Papa John’s pizzas for you to feast on during Saturday’s game to ten lucky people that register and comment before the end of Friday!)*
Then check out our forums. Here you’ll be able to learn a lot more about the Vikings than just what makes it to the front page. Members are posting links to Vikings news stories, blogs you like, national takes on the Vikings, scouting reports for the opposing team, etc. You can also add to these or ask a question or even start your own thread about whatever topic or story you like. Already have an account at Twins Daily? Well, that works here as well. Your Twins Daily login and password also grants you access to Vikings Journal.
(And we’ll give away a free pizza to each of the people who start our five favorite threads today, too. If you need ideas for a topic, look at some of the suggestions in the previous paragraph. )*
There is also our practice squad – the Blogs page. You may like some of these stories or you may not, but there is always new content being posted there by some talented writers.
And if you would like to try your own hand at writing, you can create your own blog from that page, too. Your story will appear on the Blogs page, and if it’s a good story, you may find it promoted to the front page alongside the rest of our writers.
(Might as well go the whole way. Five more free pizza will be given to some of the people who create a blog and write up decent, well-regarded, blog post or at least 150 words. If you want to learn more about how to blog on Vikings Journal, just read Brock’s cheat sheet.)*
And on the front page, your story will be read by thousands of Vikings fans, who will comment and maybe blog about it and…..the cycle continues.
This is what we mean when we say “Vikings Journal isn’t an online newspaper.” It’s a community. And it will be as great as we want it to be.
*Sorry – the Papa John’s codes only work in Minnesota.
